I think you misunderstood the intent of my post indeed, i can recognise - even from a distance - some of the things that a "tensor" can do, or do differently from something like a reVolver. This is long winded, and while I get where you're coming from I think this is just another instance of artists (pedal builders in this case) building on their predecessors while adding some modern enhancements. Example - when the Ottobit Jr came out, these other companies were brought up when the question was asked "who else makes stuttery, glitchy pedals"? These companies are usually one-person operations and often overseas! So it's easy for the common player not to know about them. I just found out about them with some newer pedals released that do similar things. There a handful of other companies that have put out awesome, glitchy pedals before (Drolo, MWFX, MASF). I would love to try out a Hexe, but again, they are in short supply and are hella expensive. So, it does some really unique stuff, but you can get stuff today that will get you close, add some new features, add more functionality (MIDI control, presets, expression over multiple controls instead of just one), and come in at realistic prices. That's probably one reason why the typical player probably hasn't heard of them/owns that pedal. Then if you can find one used, they are over $500.

The Revolver DX looks incredible, but even if you can get one direct, it has a hefty price tag (~430 usd without shipping, I think). There are plenty of pitch shifting delays (Count to 5, Tensor, Thermae) for example, that have crossover with predecessors, but they aren't quite the same. But I think they all offer something unique. It could be for the functions available via midi, though, some of which the reVolvers don't offer, though my electrix repeaters I dunno, I get where you're coming from, that there is a lot of crossover between the "groundbreaking" effects today and their respective predecessors. What's old is new again?, butcept or the fact there's rarely any meaningful public acknowledgment of what precedes today's offerings, for what's paved the way, in the world of music technology. Sorry that i'm feeling & sounding sour sometimes, the world just looks stupid to me.

I sincerely love to witness "discovery", but.where were these guys (and the rest of guitarville) when the Hexe reVolvers were released? do they not know about them? about MWFX? is it possible that these publicly respected experts-in-the-field don't know?ĭamn, it's been almost 10 yrs? or 10 years, already? nick could certainly have been doing what he calls "his favorite (tensor) thing" w/a reVolver - and more - years ago.Īnd not to mention computer based control of granular delays from the '90's & the hardcore cut'n'paste techniques that were in heavy use. Charlie can be obstinate and can definitely embarrass you more readily than the Tensor, for sure. Charlie gets pegged as a one-trick pony, but I absolutely beg to differ. Fuzz is a Basic Audio Duplex.Īnd finally: This is all Charlie Foxtrot. Solo at the end had some fun Tensor surprises that were the dual-buffer looper. Obvious Tensor action starts at 3:00 through the end-I capture some Tensor single-note randomized glitching with another looper, then play over it til the end. I use Charlie less now that I have Tensor, but it's staying on my board and can scramble the Tensor loops to break rhythm and change things up. 4:39-4:47 is some solid Charlie override action. (A little Ricochet here and there as well). Mostly Fuzz Factory til about 1:30, then Tensor joins the party. I also have a small Ditto going into Tensor, (not used on these tracks) so I can grab longer loops, then go to town on them with Charlie and Tensor and even play over that, giving 3 distinct and different guitar lines going off together. Not too close to Charlie, but it's really fun having my Foxtrot after Tensor.

I do not have a CT5, but play with a few that do and have checked them out a tiny bit and of course have the manual and pretty much know what it does. It adds a lot of intuitive control of pitch, speed and reverse and I think the UI ergonomics are really well done. Randomization takes a single quickly-looped note and bounces it all over. exPed gives you whammy style moves and fully wet, you can do instant pitch jumps jamming the button. It overlaps with CT5, same dual-buffer approach to realtime looping, but 2 other modes: replace and overdub.
